From Ho Chi Minh City we travelled on one of the cosy cabin buses up to Da Lat, sat at 1500m, it has a much welcomed cooler climate. We headed out to explore the city but it just rained and rained so it wasn't long until we took shelter in a cafe. We took the cable car trip to Tuyα»n LΓ’m Lake and visited Truc Lam Buddhist Monastery, by which time the rain had turned into a light drizzle.
Back in the city we visited one of the top tourist attractions, the Crazy House. Even though I knew its name I wasn't prepared for just how crazy it was. Just sat on a regular looking street it's a colorful extravagant building which you can walk about and get lost in. It also has rooms you can stay in which all have different themes, you can peek into the ones which are unoccupied. I did enjoy it but I also found it quite creepy.
To continue the theme we then headed to the Maze Bar which from the street didn't look like anything that crazy but you went in, bought a drink and then the building just went on and on and on. I didn't get many good pictures as it was pretty dark in there but if you kept going up you arrived on the roof where there's good city views and a huge moon.
The next morning we went to the Clay Tunnels, which aren't tunnels at all, it's like a park with loads of sculptures all made out of clay. There is a whole Covid 19 section which is a bit strange but as a whole the place is just fun, wacky, and a good way to spend a couple of hours.
Afterwards we headed to Dalanta Waterfalls which you can get to via the Apline Coaster which is a luge like thing and you're in control of the speed. It's fun, but you easily pick up a lot of speed. There's then an area with about 3 different tiers of waterfalls which were good to explore especially as the rain was staying away.
Around the falls there more sculptures to interact with, it seems to be the thing here.
We had time today before getting our next bus to explore the lake in the city on a pedalo, it was something we'd being wanting to do but the weather kept putting us off. It was a lovely way end our time in weird and wonderful Da Lat.
We're now on a bus to Nha Trang where we're then getting on a sleeper train over night to Da Nang. So fingers crossed we do get some sleep and arrive in Da Nang ready to face the day.
Lots of love,
Lisa and Matt π
