Koh Samui - Living the island life 🏖
Arriving in Koh Samui from Singapore was a big change in vibe, although both do seem to come alive a night, there's a very chill atmosphere in Koh Samui. You're almost forced to take it easy, mainly because its just so hot and humid and its very difficult to walk anywhere. We mainly spent time sat on beaches, whilst on the small Thai island, so I'll try not to fill this with beach photos.
Our first few nights we were in Bo Phut, also known as Fishermans Village, famous for its night market. We took a trip out to Angthong National Marine Park, an archipelago of 42 islands. It started with a speed boat trip out to Koh Wao where we spent some time snorkeling. Matt seems to be a natural, whereas I'm not as trusting with the snorkel but we did get to have a good look at plenty of fish and life around the corals. From there we headed to Koh Mae Koh where it was a short, but steep, walk up to view point over the Emeral Lagoon (setting for the book/film The Beach). We were then over to Koh Sam Sao for lunch, where after we kayaked around the headland. Then finally to Koh Wua Talap where we walked up to another view point which took longer than first one but the views were worth it.
We had a walk up to Lamai viewpoint for sunset one evening which wasn't far at all, we spent a while up there eating pizza and having a drink. It was lovely, on the dark walk down we were lucky not a step on a big Asian Common Toad on the path. We also visited the Grandfather and Grandmother rocks one day which are the far end of Lamai Beach. They supposedly resemble male and female anatomy, which is a bit of a stretch if you ask me, but they come with a story about a husband and wife that died at sea whilst trying to find a wife for there son on a neighbouring island.
Lots of Love,
Lisa and Matt 💕
