We had a rocky start when we arrived in Sydney! Firstly we got the wrong bus from the airport, then got on a train that wasn't going to move for at least an hour because of train strikes, then the first couple of days were extremely windy and rainy and we'd come down with some kinda lurgy from the plane alongside the jet lag. Initially I struggled to warm to the city, and therefore the country. I definitely said to Matt, at least once, 'have we made the right decision?' The sun arrived though, in spectacular Aussie summer style, and we began to fall for the city. We headed out to view some campervans, we needed a home for the next few months. We visited a dealer and then viewed a private sale, the latter being exactly what we wanted. However, it wasn't available until the 28th Jan but hands were shook and we had a another week to enjoy Sydney. I can't go through everything we've been up to so I'll mention the highlights, I really should have done a blo...
We had a chill morning about an hour away from Adelaide looking into how we wanted to spend our time in the city, before heading into the Adelaide Hills and up to Mount Lofty which looks down over the city. We didn't want to get into the city too late as we needed to scout out our sleeping options. We found a spot just to the west of the city where we could park and sleep overnight but would have to move the van in the day. We walked into the centre as we had a bit of shopping to do and then back to the van for the night. We headed out to Henley beach for a morning swim first thing, the water was lovely and still, it was a great beginning to the day, after our dip we ate our overnight oats on the beach. We got back into Adelaide and manged to park on the west side of the city, perfect for the Botanic Garden. They currently have a exhibition of glass sculptures by Dale Chihuly. They're beautiful amongst all the plants. We spent a while in the gardens, enjoying the sunshine, the...
Well, what a crazy time its' been. We're currently sat at Munich Airport waiting for our 3rd flight that gets us back to Brum. We left Auckland about 32 hours ago and have managed about 5 hours sleep on our last flight, but we are getting there! We flew with Air New Zealand first then Lufthansa, and we definitely feel there was a higher quality of customer service from Air New Zealand. Maybe I could get a job flying with different airlines and rating them! Although there is sadness that it's all over, we're definitely feeling good about returning. It was always only for a year and the next adventure is already waiting for us, who knows where we're going to end up within the next year or so. We've go so much to look forward to, from the second we land there are birthdays, weddings, holidays, alongside getting back to the day to day and sleeping in a normal bed. I'm also excited to start reading this blog back myself to remind us of everything we've done! ...
Fantastic pictures you have a gift Matt.
