Bologna - Plenty of Porticos 🏛
We've had a delightful time in Bologna! When arrived it was super hot, the Flixbuses tell you what temperature it is outside, while you're on a nicely air conditioned coach, and as we arrived it said 37°C . So we
had to prepare ourselves!
We got to our accomodation and rested a bit to head out a little later when it had cooled down. We had an evening meal out, Matt wanting Bolognase in Bologna while I went for Lasagne because I loveeee Lasagne!

Bologna felt like a very cool, relaxed city which was very welcome after the constant chaos of Venice. There was lots going on, we found the park closest to us, Parco della Montagnola, had events going on. There was meant to be live music on at 9pm on our first evening which never materialised but there was still a bar and a good atmosphere.
The next morning we got the bus out to San Luca, a huge sanctuary church sat upon a hill giving great views, and we love great views. The walk up is covered by the world's longest portico, which is a roof structure over a walkway, and they are all over the city actually which is great in the hot weather.
After, we headed into the center of the city to Piazza Maggiore, which was also set up for events and had a huge screen showing films in the evening. However, the films started at 9:45pm which is just too late for us to start watching a film! We wanted to go in the Basilica di San Petronio, but women aren't allowed in with their shoulders or knees on show, which unfortunately I had both out and no way of covering them so we had to give it a miss. You can go on in the town hall and the library for free, both of which had exhibitions in.
We went back for an afternoon break as temperatures always seem to be highest at 3-4pm in the afternoon and went back out for a wander later on. We walked through more beautiful Porticos around the city and spotted the two towers which are both leaning, one quite substantially!
We're now continuing our Italian tour onto Florence!
Lots of love,
Lisa and Matt 💕
I don't have a selfie from Bologna!
So have Matt waving instead :)
